November 11 - International Day of energy conservation
About 20 countries participate in an international day of energy conservation, again to draw the attention of the authorities and public to efficient use of resources and development of renewable energy sources.
November 11 is the International Day of energy conservation. It was decided to hold this day by the participants of International School Project on Consuming Resources and Energy at the 2008 annual meeting. Since nearly 20 countries participate in this project it was immediately proclaimed International Day of Energy conservation.
This holiday is a great opportunity to talk about energy conservation and renewable energy sources to friends and intimates, to explain why it is so important to take it up, and hold actions for the public. November 11 is not a simple day for members of the International School Project on the Use of Resources and Energy (SPARE) schools, environmental organizations and educational institutions get prepared to this day in advance.
Energy efficiency plays an important role in the preservation of natural resources. Saved energy can be used instead of newly produced, and thus reduces pollution. In addition, energy-saving is economically beneficial. Measures to save energy 2.5 - 3 times cheaper than the production and delivery the same amount of newly obtained power to consumers. The most simple and basic energy saving measures are available to everyone and can be used virtually everywhere in the house.
In this year in the frames of the International Day for energy conservation there will be hold various activities starting from the practical measures for heating the classes until street actions in the countries involved in the project. Students, teachers, representatives of environmental organizations, government officials and experts from research institutes can participate in this event. You can also organize your own action and become part of common efforts aimed at preserving the environment and energy development that meets the principles of sustainable development.
