Public Organization “Youth Group on Protection of Environment”- is public, noncommercial youth ecological organization realizing its activities since October, 2000. 

THE MISSION of YGPE is activization of youth of Sughd region in nature protection activity by carrying out of educational and practical ecological actions as well as informing of youth about socially-environmental problems of civil society.The major tasks of YGPE are the following:

-  To collect and distribute the environmental information;

-  To promote development of cultural interaction of youth in Republic of Tajikistan;

- To raise civil activity of youth and public in decision-making, concerning environmental problems.

Activity of Youth Group on Protection of Environment is realized within The framework of 3 program areas:

-  The “Green Patrol” program;

-  The Information Ecological “Aarhus Center”;

-  Disaster Risk Reduction and climate change adaptation.

THE “GREEN PATROL” PROGRAM

• - Carrying out of open Movie Nights and discussions on ecologically important topics;
• - The organization of "School of Ecological Leadership”;
• - The organization and carrying out of youth summer ecological national and regional camps «Our Green House - 2001/2011». 
• - The organization of ecological competitions, “Brain-rings” among Green Patrols;
• - Creating and broadcasting youth environmental TV - show “Green Five”;
• - Introduction of elective classes on energy-saving at schools of Sughd region (promotion of alternative energy sources);
• - Carrying out of Week of Ecological Movie on actual socially-ecological topics at schools and districts of Sughd region.Eco - Mail;
• - Actions « The Week of Clean Schools », “Earth Day  The March of Parks” 2003-2009;
• The «Recycling» program;
• - Mini - Grants for Green Patrols for carrying out of practical, nature protection actions on periphery;
• - Active participation in gardening and beautification of cities and streets;
• Ecological monitoring of districts;
• - Organization and carrying out of seminars on interactive methods in environmental education for teachers;
• - Publication of the youth ecological bulletin "Compass"

INFORMATIONAL ECOLOGICAL “AARHUS CENTER”

• - Assistance in realization of the Aarhus convention in Tajikistan;
• - Promotion of three main principles of the convention (access to information, participation of public in decision-making and access to justice on ecological issues);
• - In-time supply of important ecological information in accessible and comfortable form to the interested public; 
• - Organization of free legal consultation on ecological issues; 
• - Development of ecological development strategy of cities and districts of Sughd region with participation of public;
• - Carrying out of information campaign on increase of awareness of population on environmental problems.

EMERGENCY SITUATION PREPAREDNESS AND MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE

• - Organization of practical mitigation works in target districts;
• - Training of fast emergency assessment groups in target districts;
• - Involvement of mass media in awareness-raising on emergency situation preparedness and mitigation;
• - Organization and conduction of educational program on climate change and adaptation for youth;
• - Capacity building of partner organizations;Secretariat of REACT in Sughd region.
